Jonathan Stern is visual artist and performance designer known for his bold use of colour and fashionable illustration style. His artwork aims to captivate the movement of contemporary dance, and the fashion of alternative drag performers. In his stage performances, he is an inventor, performer, and researcher creating highly visual encounters filled with comedy, electric visual styles and experimental technology.
Jonathan was born in Waterloo, Ontario and received a BFA in Design for the Theatre from Concordia University in Montreal. He now lives in Toronto with his partner.
Miranda Kerridge is an interdisciplinary artist, who specializes in performance and visual arts. Originally from Quebec, Miranda earned her BFA at Concordia University in Acting for the Theatre, she now lives and works out of Toronto. Her work has often been compared to the pop art movement which she would better describe as mass media art. She likes to make use of iconic imagery from the media to critique late stage capitalist society, she also uses this style to explore the most sublime art on earth, which is nature.
In BLEACH, she acknowledges the space her artworks are featured in, and does not shy away from irony. She explores the ideas of cleansing, duality, filth, and restoration. She would like to remind you to separate your whites and wash your towels separately because otherwise you get all those little bits on your shirts.
Miranda and Jonathan are creators of The Cardinal Collective, a Toronto-based arts collective.
They are long time friends and artistic collaborators.
